As
humanity enters to new century, there is an emerging understanding
that our lives are an integrated part of a fragile physical system
whose own stability is dependent upon the social stability and ethics
of our civilization. Our greatest challenge in the beginning of
next century will be to repair the damage we have inflicted upon
the environment by creating new systems based on sustainability
and the principles of nature.
Permaculture was created and established to confront the enormous
problems facing humanity today. The ethics of Permaculture take
a broad perspective in solving these problems by considering the
natural order of the elements that make up life which are the same
principles that govern our own creation. In Brazil, the rural family
is in desperate need of information and resources that will allow
them to survival in harmony with the environment. We need to provide
pratical solutions for these rural communities.
Permaculture is much more than a simple model of ecological agriculture
or organic growing. It encopasses economic aspects, appropriate
technology, soil recovery, water management, alternative energy
and bio-architecture.
Permaculture is a true holistic system of planning for humankind´s
permanence on Earth. |
